A professional development initiative by SCALA & Among the Ants

SCALA is thrilled to announce a very special collaboration with the one and only Among the Ants, a non-profit organisation based in Athens, Greece.

Among the Ants specialises in projects involving the performing arts sector that blend artistic exchanges as well as community engagement.

Together with Among the Ants, SCALA founded Offbeat Agora: a transnational professional development initiative for artists. 

The initiative facilitates a series of Artist Exposés focusing on chosen topics in the form of online or in-person artist meetings, as well as improvisational cross-sectoral Jam Explosions, workshops, mentorship programmes, artist residencies, and cross-border collaborations.

The initiative targets artists from underrepresented regions, including the east Mediterranean, Balkan, and island countries, as well as currently occupied areas to bridge its cross-border network of artists and foster new ways of creating and thinking. A collection of tools and solutions are offered: from strategic thinking to day-to-day practical advice.

Offbeat Agora cultivates a mentality of striving for constant development among local and transnational artists at any stage of their careers, with the goal of boosting professionalisation, innovation, and co-creation in the music and performing arts sectors.
