ARTIST EXPOSÉ & JAM EXPLOSION

Offbeat Agora is launching its professional development initiative for artists with an Artist Exposé and celebratory Jam Explosion at Larnaca’s Kleidi Bar on Wednesday, 26 July 2023. Founded by Among the Ants (Greece) and SCALA (Cyprus), Offbeat Agora aims to foster dialogue among musicians and performing artists and nurture their self-empowerment to boost their professional capacities.

Offbeat Agora’s first Artist Exposé will begin at 18:00 and feature a two-hour discussion on the topic “Promoting Music & Performing Arts: Tools & Best Practices”. The intimate conversation is aimed at artists, cultural professionals, journalists, podcasters and radio producers, who will explore issues of mutual concern in their sectors and exchange experiences in navigating their communications strategies.

Moderated by Larnaca-based educator, science communicator and linguist Andia Mavromati, and guided by the Offbeat Agora founders, Maria Kaimaklioti (SCALA) and Constantina Georgiou (Among the Ants), the Artist Exposé invites artists and media professionals to explore the value of marrying targeted promotional strategies with the creator’s very own artistic identity. The discussion will refer to creating press kits, crafting audiovisual materials, developing targeted media lists, planning promotional timelines, and building audience and media relationships. The Artist Exposé will offer registrants the opportunity to discuss and innovate promotional arts practices and share their perspectives, experiences, and latest works.

Following the Artist Exposé, Kleidi will then open its doors from 20:30 until late to welcome audiences to join in and jam at Offbeat Agora’s inaugural Jam Explosion - the very first of its kind in Larnaca’s city centre. Genre-agnostic, open to the public, and welcoming a range of musicians and performing artists, the Jam Explosion is taking a deep dive down rabbit holes of experimentation, improvisation and co-creation.
